Please take a moment to submit testimony in support HB238, a bill to extend the sunset date for ACT 168 (this 2012 rule allows for the EV parking benefits and exemption from the HOV restrictions). This essentially asks for the existing benefits to be extended through 2030.

RELATING TO RENEWABLE ENERGY.
HB 550
Status and Testimony
Amends the definition of "renewable portfolio standard" to more accurately reflect the percentage of renewable energy use in the State. Establishes renewable portfolio standards and targets for gas utility companies that are similar to those set for electric utility companies.
 
RELATING TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY.
HB 557
Status and Testimony
Amends the criteria for granting a solar water heater system variance. Authorizes the Director of DBEDT to impose penalties and fines for false statements on variance applications.

RELATING TO FUEL CELL ELECTRIC VEHICLES.
HB 239
Status and Testimony
Exempts fuel cell electric vehicle from payment of parking fees and high occupancy vehicle lane restrictions. Increases the priority to be placed on fuel cell electric vehicles for state and county entities purchasing new vehicles. Allows for fuel cell electric vehicles to be parked in designated electric vehicle parking spaces. For purposes of determining electric vehicle parking spaces, restricts electric system charging systems to those that do not include facilities or systems for refueling hydrogen storage tanks of fuel cell electric vehicles.

RELATING TO A COAL-FREE HAWAII.
HB 563
Status and Testimony
Prohibits the issuance of covered source air permits for coal-burning electricity generation facilities after 2022. Prohibits the approval of a new, modified, or renewed power purchase agreement for electricity generated from coal.
 
RELATING TO INTRA-GOVERNMENTAL WHEELING.
HB 298
Status and Testimony
Authorizes any government agency to engage in the wheeling of electricity that is produced at its own facilities from renewable energy resources, subject to disallowance by the Public Utilities Commission.

RELATING TO ENERGY TRAINING.

Status and Testimony
Requires UH community colleges to establish energy systems and technology training courses for county officers and employees responsible for permitting, inspecting, licensing, and approving construction projects and an advisory committee of industry stakeholders and to submit a report to the Legislature. Appropriates funds.
