We’ve heard the argument before that electric vehicles have just as bad an impact to the environment (or worse) than a gas car. This has been proven false many times but we can expect propaganda designed to confuse consumers into maintaining their fossil fuel consumption. This has led to questions like the following:
“I realize there is no emission. However, how do you explain the environmental impact of the manufacture of the batteries?”
“What happens to the batteries when they die? Don’t they become a big environmental problem?”
What about cobalt mining in the Congo? Don’t electric cars contribute to the problem of children being exploited in their mines?
Aren’t you charging with electricity that is created with coal? Isn’t that worse for the environment?
The following Jalopnik article is yet another one to help combat this type of misinformation and the set the record straight.
