National Drive Electric Week is almost here! This nation-wide celebration that raises awareness of the many benefits of the electric vehicle. This year, we’ll have close to 300 events across the country and even in other countries.
Electric vehicles are fun to drive (they are quick!), cheaper to operate, and are one of the keys towards reducing our dependence on oil. They are now becoming more widespread – there are many makes and models and more manufacturers are joining the transition to electric. Importantly, driving ranges are rising (more models with over 200 mile range) and prices are more affordable.
The Big Island Electric Vehicle Association is hosting two events this year – in Waimea on September 8 and Hilo on September 15. If you are an electric car owner, please consider bringing your vehicle and helping us make our events even more successful. If you are interested in getting an electric car, come and speak with owners about their experiences.
